Do sims3 or 4 support the new M1 chip MacBook?

@Raydongc This version of Sims 3 was written for Intel Macs, just like the last one. It does not run and may never run natively on ARM Macs. The same can currently be said for Sims 4, although the game is still very much in active development and therefore has a greater chance of receiving a compatibility update.
However, Apple has created software called Rosetta 2 that's meant to translate existing software for ARM CPUs. How well this will work for Sims 3 specifically is, at this point, still unknown to us players. If people on the inside do know, they're not talking.
Since you're buying a new Mac anyway, I would love to hear from you how the game runs. It's possible it would be okay, and possible it would not, but it would be really helpful if we had some anecdotal information to share with other players who I'm sure will start asking soon enough.
Sims 4 run with Rosetta 2. It isn’t a problem at all. Sims 3 also work but I had some issues with it. It crashed very often und there were some grafic issues, too. But it work on the new M1 Chip.
As reference: I have the MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip and 8 GB RAM.
@Alice12121212 What settings are you using in-game? I'm wondering whether there are any in particular that cause crashing, and whether lowering them could help.
Please attach your deviceconfig.log to a post; it's in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. You can delete your user and computer names, about 25 lines down, but there's no other identifying information in that file.
Are you confirming that The Sims 3 works with the new M1 chip and on Mac OS Big Sur? If so, that would make my day 🙂 @Alice12121212
@zachomitowoju A few different players have confirmed that Sims 3 does work on an M1 chip. The game runs reasonably well but has some minor issues: a pink line around the sim portrait on the UI and some blurry text, from the reports. But overall performance is good.
- @zachomitowoju Well it runs. But at the moment it‘s not playable. Ist crashed very often. I‘m about to try out different things to make it work better.

The other people who've described how the game runs have said it's stable on the default settings, although I don't know which packs they've installed. (Which ones do you have, by the way?)
On a few Intel Macs, it's helped to lower lighting quality, although I have no idea whether that would also make a difference on an M1 chip.
- @puzzlezaddict I‘ve got alle Packs and a lot oft Store Content. But I don‘t warnt to Play without ist.
There are some Packs I had more problems with like Island Paradies. The Game crashed after 1 minuit in Isla Paradiso.
In „Roaring Heights“ with is a Store town I had no Problems. I played the a few days just for a test. @Alice12121212 Isla Paradiso is so broken in its original state that it can lag or crash on any system. That doesn't mean that Sims 3 overall runs poorly, just that the world is too broken to work as it should. The features of the pack work fine though, and they can be used in any world that has space and deep enough water.

The player who made the edited save documented all her changes in case people want to apply them to their own saves. So you could try to fix an existing save if you want.
