I'm not sure how to customize the EA app installer. I'll try that tomorrow. The language Windows is in is English, (not sure if that's what you're talking about or the programming one...) but I've bought the game on Steam now and run it without having to use the EA App. I don't use any antivirus software unless Windows has one built in. It's a very strange conundrum.
Once all this gets fixed I think I'd still use the EA app because I found codes for a lot cheaper including add-ons on
Also not sure if that could be an issue, but the codes are legit and worked as they show up in my EA app library. Just can't install them lol...
@R3tr0R3dux @xpkoalz @zephxea @GlobalWarmer101 I've flagged this issue to someone from EA, but I don't know how to fix or work around it at the moment. For those of you who haven't tested, does the same thing happen to other games? You could test with Sims 4 or Apex Legends, both of which are free, if you don't own anything else.
Additionally, does this happen if you uninstall and reinstall the EA App and do NOT change the default install location? Does it happen if you manually choose a different location? Please test with a newly-created folder on the root level of the drive of your choice, e.g. C:\Games, and if that doesn't work, create a "The Sims 3" folder there and select it. Please try all of these approaches if you haven't already and let me know what does and doesn't work.
- 2 years ago@puzzlezaddict I tried all these again just now to be sure and no luck.
After some research I found another thread that said to buy a $1 redeem code from instant games, that you then redeem via the EA website in the settings area.
After that you download revo and wipe all the files and start again.
IT didn't work for me.... but it's apparently worked for others - 2 years ago
I did try all of this, and it still didn't work for me. I hope they fix this issue soon.

Legit. I bought some expansion packs recently and can't even try them. Feels like a scam...

@GlobalWarmer101 @zephxea and @T0RN_x (and anyone else who wants to test) Does it help to run the EA App as an admin? I don't mean just using it in an admin Windows account; you'd need to right-click the desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator." Please let me know both whether you still get the "something went wrong" error and whether the install location still has an extra backslash.
For anyone reading who hasn't tried the other suggestions in this thread, please also try changing the install location to a new folder you create specifically for this purpose. It should be on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games, but not C:\Program Files\Games.

@puzzlezaddict
Nope, also doesn't work on "run as admininstrator", it still adds another backslash. :o - 2 years ago
Yep. I tried running it as administrator. I even tried reinstalling the EA by running the installer as administrator, and that still didn't do anything. Gonna keep floating by here until the problem is resolved.

Yeah. I've even contact EA help about it to see if they could give me any info. I did this the first day I posted in here, and I still haven't heard anything back. They don't seem to care, but can't say I'm surprised.

I'm also having this exact same issue

Mine's not even letting me get to the window with the // now.
Just gets stuck on the "Manage Add-Ons" page when I try to add EPs.
And just to confirm, the problem does not seem to affect all games. I installed TS4 plus one of its EPs at the weekend as a test, and it all went fine.
