I've played two different sims all the way through university since this happened, and haven't had this problem with either of them. The 1st sim did 2 terms and then back for a 3rd, invited his boss and 2 co-workers from his homeworld, and everything ran smoothly. The next sim did 2 terms and then 2 more, invited her best friend from her homeworld as well as her boyfriend from university, no problems there either.
