You have to download the latest version (which is 1.50 atm) unzip the .package-file and place it in your folder for (which should normally automatically have been created by the game):
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
Also be aware that there are 2 versions, one for a Sims 3-Installation and the second one for a Sims 3-Installation via Steam. It is important to choose the right version ;)
Afterwards you are starting your game as normal and should get informed by the game, that the game has discovered active mods ... specifically, NRAAS Error Trap ).
Normally thereafter, when loading the broken save, your Sim should be able to do interactions with other Sims again (and be able to return home at 9 PM)
Also as an update on my experiences after I got my Sim back home thanks to Error Trap:
Everything works fine, my Sim returned home without any issues and I have already spent 1 week in game time without any problems.
