ERROR DURING STARTUP

Literally JUST got the disc as a much-wanted birthday present.

Popped it into my computer, installed origin and made an account, so forth. Installed the game, right clicked from origin "My games" page and clicked play.

"There was an error during startup. Please check the log for details."

Restarted my computer, took out the disc, put it back in, uninstalled and reinstalled just now.

Same error.

Have tried running as an administrator.

Have tried going to ProgramFilesx86>OriginGames>TheSims3Game>Bin, right click TS3 launcher and run as an administor.

Error persists.

This is a brand new game, and I really want to play it. I don't understand why it's not working.

  • Try the superpatch. The 1.7 GB one. That doesn't care about the region.

    This happened to me the other day. Took me 11 hours to figure out the simple fix. Delete the games and if you have any expansions packs from the control panel. Then go back to Origin and redownload them from the client. Also verify the games on the Sims 3 website.

    I'm...not too good with this stuff? So I'll ask alot of questions; I hope you don't mind.

    I deleted the game from my control panel before reinstalling the first time. I was going to redownload from Origin; but it was going to take approximately an hour and a half; so I just decided to reinstall it. Is there a difference in the two? :/

    And by verify I'm guessing you mean register? How do I do that?

    Never mind to how to register! c: Found out. Should I uninstall/redownload first before registering?

    Youre fine, I'm not too good with this stuff either I had to have my husband do it for me after 11 hours of me trying to fix it. Yes, just reinstall from Origin it does take a while but it fixed my problems after I got the same message you said.

  • When registering, is the serial code the same as the product key?

    Assuming I registered the game correctly, I did everything you said and am still getting the same result "There was an error with the setup. Please check the log for deatils."

  • I guess I spoke too soon.

    In the game update section, there's an update. I went through the update, it took about half an hour to load the whole thing. It'll get to 99%, and close the launcher. When I open it again, the same update appears under Game Updates. I've gone through the update twice and it still doesn't seem to be recognizing my update. Can anyone lend a hand?

  • Got this error.

    "The set up has detected that the installed game region for this update is incorrect.

    This update requires a different game region to be installed."

    I'm not sure which version of the game I have. Any way for me to check that?

    Only if the incremental one doesn't work.

    TBH, I don't count on that many more updates anyways.
