Your solution to mini freezes during gameplay "Get a new computer" is neither useful, helpful, nor considerate.
I am running a brand new, fresh install of 4 EP's downloaded direct from Origin. I have no (read that as ZERO) custom content and after less than 4 hours of gameplay I am experiencing a very common (at least 2 year old) glitch where the game stutters. There is no fix for this issue. 'resetsim' does not solve it.
I have been playing The Sims since 2001 and while I understand that it is a complicated endeavor that requires an amazing level of talent and skill to create I do not think I am being unreasonable when I expect that the vanilla game runs as it is intended: without error. My computer is above spec in every way.
Here is what I believe the problem is:
1 - Sim memories.
2 - NPC inventory.
3 - Routing errors.
4 - World Adventure (probably routing errors).
These are all issues that fall under EA's 'need to fix' file. But 2 years after first experiencing these issues they are still prevalent (i.e. the mini freeze issue is the primary game killer every time I begin a new world). It should absolutely NOT be the responsibility of unpaid, nonprofessional players to fix these problems. They need to be dealt with by you, the creating entity, and they should have been resolved years ago when the issues first became known.

I began noticing this on maybe the patch before seasons. It was sporadic at best but when Seasons hit and installed it. It made the game unplayable.
This thread on the EA sims forum discusses it http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/480/493953.page . As you can see its not that limited hardware wise. An appearent large number of users/systems have the problem.
None of the official suggested causes of lag work or help. Any 3rd party user developed mods help. Deleting the cache, CC, Trying a new world, reinstalling the game completely , lowering in game video and audio settings , nothing works.
In my case my "specs" far exceed the Sims 3. And can play most games out at max settings.
It typically begins to happen about 20 minutes in and gradually "snowballs" if you would. Until it lags/freezes about every 30 seconds for atleast a minute. Rendering the game unplayable.
As a paying customer I'm more than a little pissed off that the largest video game company on the planet cant have the games developers focus on the issue for a week or so. On a somewhat related note if anyone involved in development read's this; Season's, Pet's and the Highrise nightlife deal should've been added to the core functionality of the base game. That seems a pretty significant change to an already complex build. I get budgets and time restraints and hope it was that and not greed..
EDIT: Digging into google search a bit more on this I found something that actually (sort of) worked for me consistently.. Tab out of Sims > Open Task Manager > Open Processes tab > Right click the Sims3 exe > Highlight the "PRIORITY" > Change it to HIGH.
This made the game much more playable for me. Still not fixed.
