I just noticed this, and I'm sure someone else has replied, but I thought I'd go ahead and throw in my experience with this.
Yes the game freezes, and the clock appears frozen too... However, I found the other night that when I saved and exited out to the main menu and reloaded the save, the clock was fixed and the sim still froze up. When I had saved the clock read somewhere around 12:30ish (noon), but when I loaded the game up the clock read around 8:15 pm. So the clock is still running, but for some reason the numbers don't change. And it doesn't happen all the time. It's random, but when it does happen it's when the game is lagging.
ETA: Not sure if you are asking me but I'ma throw it out there anyway -> I do have the tree, and I'm about to remove it and see what happens before I go and start a store content free game. Because I don't want to remove all my store stuff if the tree can possibly fix it. :wink:
