I'm getting a little over-frustrated I can't do any testing. I've got so many burning questions and no way to answer them. I wish I could kick up this bug. Instead, right now I've got adrenaline flowing and no way to relieve it. All I'm doing now is getting overwrought and not thinking straight. I guess I better go read a book for a while, or something. :)
Why bother any more? We found the culprit and now it's up to the bug team (or store team?) to fix this mess.
And I'm not just talking about the tree. That alarm list must also be cleared when we leave a world.
Because I don't know enough about coding in the game to know if the alarm problem can attach itself to houses/lots/sims that are being uploaded to the exchange. Because I don't know for sure that alarms from other objects won't also corrupt games. Because I don't know what about the tree is causing problems, and if other PC items can also be doing it, but haven't been discovered, yet. Because any time we save the bug team, by testing it for ourselves, will free them up to fix other bugs not as critical but still annoying.
Because I'm the kind of person who likes mysteries solved conclusively and i's dotted and t's crossed. ;)
@Crinrict: Yes, I have the tree installed in my mermaid testing game, because I started in LL with her -- I needed somewhere without an ocean, so I could see if putting a salt-water designator in a swimming pool was enough to make up for lack of ocean. I haven't played that one long enough to kick up a problem, because I switched over to an old DV save to see if old saves were part of the issue, before I knew about the real cause.
But the old save also has LL installed. And I would think it should have exhibited the problem, by now. I'm even playing the game on the fastest speed, and haven't seen it, yet. I should probably give up on that game, and go back to the mermaid game .... I'm beginning to wonder if playing with story progression off and aging off might make a difference in how quickly errors are generated, though.
