Game crashes 5 minutes after loading in.

I want to start this by saying I've already run a few fixes, which I noticed have increased the game performance in the brief amount of time I can play. I installed the GPU add-on, so my DeviceConfig file now reads that my graphics card is detected. All of my settings have been lowered, I use no CC and only have Nraas mods installed, I've removed some of my packs to ensure as little CPU power as possible and none of that has helped my crash issue.

Here's some necessary info/specs:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400T CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.70 GHz
  • 12GB RAM, 64-bit operating system
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630
  • Recently wiped the PC so there's not a lot installed.
  • Packs installed are Pets, Season, Ambitions, Island Paradise, generations, World Adventures, Supernatural, Late Night, University Life, and High-End Loft Stuff.

I will attach the DxDiag in this post as well.

Problem:

I haven't played the Sims 3 since 2016. My laptop decided it was done trying and began to slow down, then I broke the screen, so it was essentially impossible. For the past few years, I've had this all-in-one PC and it runs the Sims 4 and other games like Phasmophobia and (surprisingly) GTAV quite well. I tried about a year ago to play, installed my game and the packs, made it all the way through CAS and once I entered the world it crashed after about 5 minutes. Tried over and over to see if it was a one-time thing and it wasn't. I gave up but had another craving a few days ago. Sometime in the last month I reset my pc and wiped it data because it was too slowed down by my other programs to google anymore. Now it runs wonderfully, but still crashes the Sims 3. At this point I can't even make it through CAS without a crash. I downloaded a few Nraas cleaners and such to help it run smoother, my game setting are all tunes to low, and I use no CC (as I mentioned above). I tried to research the error shown in DxDiag to no avail and searched forums up and down for a fix. Nothing has helped so far. I want to know if this is potentially an issue with my system requirements, or if my game doesn't recognize some of the "newer" specs on my PC.

Anything helps and thank you for reading!

  • @pr1sm0999  If you're referring to this error:

    Event Name: APPCRASH
    Response: Not available
    Cab Id: 0

    Problem signature:
    P1: TS3.exe
    P2: 0.2.0.32
    P3: 568d4bac
    P4: MSVCR80.dll
    P5: 8.0.50727.9680
    P6: 6090c909
    P7: c0000005
    P8: 000172d7
    P9:
    P10:

What it means is that Sims 3 (TS3.exe), version 0.2.0.32 (Origin/EA App install) crashed due to faulting module MSVCR80.dll, and the type of error is an access violation (c0000005).  MSVCR80 is a component of the 2005 VC++ runtimes, which Sims 3 uses, but this doesn't necessarily mean that the runtime itself is corrupt.  It's also possible the system or game is using it incorrectly.

Still, the place to start is by uninstalling and reinstalling the x86 runtime.  Hit Windows key-R, click Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, click on the 2005 version (it won't say x86, but that's what it is; the x64 version will have that in its name), and uninstall.  You can download a fresh copy here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347

You only need the x86 version, not the other two.  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

The other errors in your dxdiag are generic Windows errors, possibly innocuous, but it's worth running a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files anyway:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.
