Game freezes CONSTANTLY on my expensive gaming computer... WHY?!

I bought myself a top of the line gaming computer a few months back with the best of everything. I can run all the big time MMO's on max settings without a hitch. So why is it, I can't even make it past family creation without the game freezing to the point that I can't do anything?! Sometimes I don't even make it past the automatic intro video!! I can't move my mouse, I can't use my keyboard, nothing! I have to hold down the power button (which I'm sure isn't good for it) until it shuts down, just to get the screen off. I've used the online chat multiple times and they all give me the same stupid quick fix solutions that DON'T WORK!

  • I've placed all my settings on high.
  • I've placed all my setting on medium.
  • I've placed all my settings on low.
  • I've tried multiple resolutions ranging from high to low.
  • I've played full screen.
  • I've played windowed mode.
  • I've deleted all of the cache files this link https://help.ea.com/article/sims-3-error-service-initialization-failed-0x065d0274 told me to and then some.
  • I've added every DEP exception that it'd allow (S3Launcher, Sims 3, Sims 3 Starter Application, and Sims 3Launcher Starter Application).
  • I've opened up my task manager and closed everything with the exception of explorer.exe and the system process, local, etc.
  • I've done the automatic update.
  • I've been given a link to a manual update (which I spent 45 minutes downloading) only for it to tell me that the version I have is more recent than the one I'm trying to download so I'd have to delete the newest in order to install the oldest... What sense does that make?

I'm completely at a loss here and this is really stressing me out! I want nothing more than to play this game and I have no idea why my computer won't let me, and apparently every tech person I get in chat has no idea either!! Someone, anyone, PLEASE HELP!

Here's my specs and such. I went on "can you run this" and although I know I surpass the minimum requirements by far, maybe it will be able to help...

  • This is far more about game engine.

I'm using Win7 on an i5 with 6GB ram and a 1TB (D🙂 dedicated games HD, yet my sims 3 experience comes once every 30 secs after a prolonged game freeze. This has happened on multiple platforms and multiple computers. The most common obvious denominator is the game itself.

This is incredibly frustrating and makes the game almost unplayable, yet this is the third time I've tried to get the problem fixed...

Do you run with a setting that is not default (aging off)? Have you added lots to the game that are outside of the standard setup? Do you use any non-game mods?

I just wish the company would stop spending all their money on llama breeding and hire someone to try and fix the base game platform...

Ffs, there are still errors that were reported in Nightlife in the game!

The only thing I can recommend is that you make sure your graphics drivers are updated and you could try to re-install the game...

(Yup, 15 discs with an install time of about three hours here!) but most of all do not stop asking for help! 😉

    • Have you tried renaming the user folder in documents and let the game create a fresh one ?
    • Is this a desktop or a laptop and do you have a graphic chip in your computer as well as a card or only the card ?
    • Are you using any custom content or mods in your game ?

I'm not sure what you mean by renaming the user folder... Like rename the Electronic Arts folder or rename something inside it?

It's a desktop, and no as far as I know I only have the one graphics card... I had read something on the forums about people using two graphics cards and that causing an issue with the game so I followed the steps to go in and disable one from safe mode and I only had the one so that was a no go.

No, I'm not using any custom content or mods. The only things I've downloaded are from the actual EA store, so they should be fine right?

    Thanks!
