Game keeps freezing when in China (World Adventures)

Since the latest patch, when my sims travel to China I find that after each hour of Sim time the characters all freeze for about 30 seconds of real time. all the other animation (plants, water, effects etc) keep moving, but all the sims freeze....any thoughts? Thanks
