Guests/Butler Glitch

@leverettken  There are any number of possibilities, but perhaps there's something wrong with your door.  It could be stuck, blocked by an invisible object (like a sim's action jig that never disappeared), or even locked to everyone but the household.  In any event, if you can't unlock the door, try replacing it, and if that doesn't work, designate another door in the house as the front door.  (You can do this simply by clicking on it.)  Then see if the butler or guests can enter the house through the new door.

If the door can't be deleted, and you want to fix the issue rearranging your house, the best thing to do is to go to Edit Town mode, evict your sims, save the house to the bin, bulldoze the lot, replace the house, and move your sims back in.  Doing all this in one Edit Town session allows your sims to preserve their jobs and relationships.  This process will flush any leftover jigs as well as a host of other problems that you might not be able to find or delete.

If the problem persists, it might be a good idea to use "save as" to create a backup save on which you can experiment.  You can then start trying things like moving your family to a new lot or even a new town to see if you can find a way to fix the issue.
