hi! sorry for the very late reply... been busy with exams and things. I checked the task manager right after the loading screen, here's what i got... Sims 3 almost took up 70% of my memory (16 Gigs), to be fair I am running a seemingly large save file (1.03 GB). is that unusual?
About trying to load the save file from my old laptop, I'm unable to do so cause the laptop's not with me no more... sorry! waiting for your reply
@ivanreagann Sims 3 itself isn't taking up 70% of your computer's memory; that's the total in use. The game itself is at around 2.8 GB, which is high but not in the danger zone. On the other hand, the save itself may be so overloaded that it's not playable, and the crashes may be due to something else going on or to a temporary memory spike that the Task Manager doesn't catch.
Do you use NRaas mods, and if so, which ones? If not, would you be willing to add some? I would specifically recommend ErrorTrap, Overwatch, Register, Traffic, and MasterController. The first four do their jobs without player input; MC doesn't do anything unless you use it to issue a command. If you're willing, install them all, load your save, let the game clock run for a few sim-minutes, then click City Hall and select this:
NRaas > MasterController > Town Options > Reset Everything
Once it's done, let the game clock run for a few more sim-minutes, use "save as" to rename the save (so the original remains intact under its current name), quit, delete the cache files (again, if you have already), and reload. These are the relevant files to delete:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
Let me know how it goes.
