How to install Sims 3 on Windows 8

I purchased Sims 3 Starter pack. When you put the disc in it installs origin  I login to origin then it does nothing else if you click on origin it does not open and it does not install the actual game. I have a brand new computer there should be no reason it wont support the game. It also has windows 8 installed on it help
