You got it all wrong. :-) You can merge anything, anything, anything. Mods, clothes, and default eyes? Yep. Default skins, Nondefault eyes, and jewelry? Yep. How about contacts, tattoos, and shoes? Yep. Everything together? Yep!
Well, almost anything. Don't convert/merge patterns that are in sims3pack or have been created made in CAP. If you do, your game will get the "Materializing Materials" loading/processing screen and you won't be able to save or CAS a lot or anything. Patterns made in CAP, and are in sims3pack format, must be installed through the game via the launcher.
