[Humble Bundle] Sims 3 has been downloaded, but it wont install no matter what!

Okeydokes...

I know a lot of folks have been having this problem, after redeeming their code from Humble Bundle correctly and downloading the game, they can't get Origin to install the game and, if they try to install it manually, they get an icon that doesn't link to the game.... so they try to link the icon to the game and it tells them to install the game..... ARGH!

Well, folks!  I have just figured out the SOLUTION! :D 

What you need to do is go to your Origin Games folder and click on Sims3Setup,exe.... but this is what we've all been doing wrong!  The game installs in the Electronic Arts folder and that messes up the install..... so what do you need to do?  

Go to the Origin Games folder and click on Sims3Setup.exe as before but.....

When it gives you the option, do a custom install and direct it to install to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3

Now open up Origin and you will see that, instead of saying "install", it now says "Play".  Click on that......

There you go!  The game should run now! 🙂

"Of course, now, Origin won't let me download the two expansion packs"...................?

You have to restart Origin first.  Now try it. 🙂

If you are then faced with registration issues (Having purchased from Humble Bundle),  go back to your Humble Bundle email and click on the link provided and you will see that they have provided us all with new codes to register on the Sims website.

I found an installer once I had a dig about but after supposedly installing it I got a pop up saying I need to reinstall the base game?

I also cannot pause or cancel the installation in origin

I am having the same problem. When the game finished downloading it opened the uninstall manager not the install manager and now the install manager won't pop up when I click install. 

Not to be rude but to me that advice means nothing. I need detailed instructions of how to do these things. I am using AVG. 

You should always be able to get instructions on how to whitelist or allow a game in your anti-virus program or firewall on the website of your anti-virus or firewall program. There are just too many possible programs out there for us to list them all.

Now could someone please sticky the above linked post I made as this is the second post about this problem I have seen since writing it and considering this is the solution to the problem it would probably help a lot of people if it was made readily available to all. :D
