im having problems with the violin on sims 3

Does it work properly for other instruments ?

I don't think you need the rest of the content for it to work but I'm really unsure.

I can gain skill from it and play it but it does let me do play for tips and other sims not paying attention to me when I play the violin and not receiving tips for it. At the same time it doesn't let my sim get the music note mood like the other instruments do.

I'm really unsure if it's supposed to or if that's a bug with the instrument.

as far as i recall you ought to be able to play for tips and get an enjoying music moodlet  not sure what level skill the sims needs to be at to play for tips , I'll launch my game in a bit and check what level if any and or if it's available upon learning the violin skill level 1

i started a new game with newly  created sims the Sim i created to play the violin at level 4 of the skill the play for tips unlocks and at level 8 when i was able to instruct the sim to perform composition my other sims got the enjoying music moodlet

and it ought not be dependent on having Dragon Vally as the violin can be bought on it's own as an example i own Midnight Hollow world standard version , the gold version comes with a toy shop but i bought the titanic toy machine and can make toys with it

strange that you do cuz my sim has maxed level the violin skill.

1) do you have mods/cc ?  if not go to step 2

2) for testing purposes  could you start a new game with a new sim to see if at the least the unlock play for tips i played for 2 hours last night to get the sim to level 8 t see when the moodlet would unlock but you won't have to play that long probs about an hour to unlock the play for tips

I have five in different game save and each one I played still not getting the moodlet same with  the tips but one place I have not tried was Bridgeport and midnight hollow by placing a subway station to try for tips and no I hardly done mods or whatever cuz they tend to be too confusing for me to figure out how to get it on the computer

I almost forgot to say I had uninstalled it and reinstalled the violin and tried it but it still doing what I said before.

nope the sim i made had the option to play for tips on the home lot which her housemate kindly threw some money in the violin  case 

the only thing i can think of then is your ccmerged file could be broken/corrupted it  happens
