I'm having trouble installing Sims 3

I bought The Sims 3 from a game shop here in PE, RSA, and I found that I have to download it to install it. Is that what should happen? The last time I installed it it didnt need to download anything. What's gone wrong?

You should not need to download.
Try this method: http://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-3/How-do-I-install-from-disc-without-download/m-p/1384#M22

Should be the same for Sims 3. Just do the same for Sims 3 instead of Mass Effect 3.

Let me know if it works.
