install Sims 3 on laptop without disc drive

I just bought a brand new laptop that doesn't have a disc drive on it. how do i load my TS3 games and expansions? TIA

  • RainaElf  Do your expansion and stuff packs show as owned in the EA App, under Sims 3 > Manage > Manage add-ons?  If so, you can simply install them from there.

If they don't show as owned, and you never registered the codes, you can do so now.  I would suggest using the old Sims 3 website (www.thesims3.com) rather than the EA App: click the Register a Game button at the bottom of the screen.  Anything added on that site should show in the EA App.

If the codes already read as used, you'd need to contact EA customer support for help.  But there's no guarantee you could get them added to your account, and support likely won't help if the codes have already been used.  There's no harm in asking though.

Or you could buy an external disc drive.  They're relatively cheap, and most of them work well enough with Sims 3 discs.  You could also borrow one from a friend or family member to make sure it works, then buy that same drive yourself.

I purchased a few bundle packs of the sims 3 before laptops were made without the CD rom player. Can I somehow download the bundles I have without having to rebuy the games online?

Thank you!! If I buy the external drive, what size should I get as far as space?
