Sims 3 won't launch black windowed screen in corner when I try

Hi, my sims 3 game has been fine on my computer for ages, last week showed a black screen. Previously I deleted

  • scriptCache.package
  • compositorCache.package
  • simCompositorCache.package
  • CASPartCache.package
  • Options.ini

and the thumbnails folder and it worked, no issues after that and the next time I played not its doing the same issue and what I deleted before isn't working. Repair isn't working, nothings working, very frustrated and don't want to have to go through this every other time I want to launch the game. Game runs fine once launched its getting the stupid thing to launch that's the issue, and its only recently started playing up and i haven't changed anything. Please help? :(

  • ok got it working  finally by renaming sims 3 in documents and making it regenerate the folder, this is a recurring issue recently though.

EDIT:  its doing the same thing again now. exited the game to put saves folder and mods folder back etc and its giving me the black screen again.

Edit II : Its working now (with saved games and mods) and as always its playing fine for hours now its finally launched and I have my saved games and (Official) CC back,  but don't trust it and not confident it wont refuse to load again the next time I choose to play and I'll have to go through this process every time.

asked co pilot and it said This seems to be caused by EA App corrupting the Sims 3 user folder during launch? Is this a thing and if so  how do I make the app leave the folder alone.?

  • Cazamelia81  First, Copilot is completely incorrect here.  The EA App doesn't touch the Sims 3 user folder at any point during the process of launching or running the game.

Is there any pattern to what you're doing when the game works, or when it doesn't?  For example, does restarting your computer help?  Is your user folder inside the OneDrive folder?  To check, right-click the Sims 3 folder and select Properties > General, then look at the Location.

Additionally, what did you do to set up the new user folder when it didn't work, and what did you do when it finally did work?  If there are any details (you can remember) that differed, please let me know.
