Installation of Sims 3 Failing in Origin

Hello! I am having some issues with the installation of my Sims 3 games through origin. The downloading of the game + expansion packs has been fine, but when I got to install The Sims 3 it states:

An unexpected installation error has occurred. First, try restarting your computer. If that doesn’t resolve the issue you can take the following steps:
1) Temporarily disable your virus scanner/firewall
2) Run the Origin Client in administrator mode
3) Reboot your Machine and try installing again

Error: 327682:0

I have restarted my computer, and re-downloaded the game, even gone through the DownloadedCache files to load it like a CD but I still get bounced back. Fairly sure I don't have any virus scanners, unless built in to MacBook Airs. Can anyone suggest what I should try next, I'm playing on a MacBook Air with the Catalina software update, and I can not run origin in administrator mode. I'm sure this question comes up all the time, but I have tried the stuff I've read online with no luck, is it just that The Sims 3 is not compatible with the current update? I feel like it hasn't been compatible with any update over the past few years, so I'm not sure why this one is having such as issue, thank you!

  • @brontetemps  The issue is that Sims 3 is a 32-bit app, and Catalina is 64-bit only, so it won't run the game or even the installer.  There's no way around this problem.  But EA has announced a 64-bit-compatible version of TS3 for macOS, to be released some time this year.  (We don't know when that will happen yet.)  Here's the full announcement:

In the interim, your only options are to play on another computer, to install Windows on your Mac via Bootcamp or Parallels (probably not a good idea with a MacBook Air's small hard drive), or to install Mojave and the game on an external hard drive and boot into that when you want to play.  Let me know if you'd like more information about these options.  If you only recently bought the game and don't want to wait for the update, you can request a refund from EA.
