I'll answer the questions before I give the problem...
1. Are you using mods (Please answer with: Yes, Never, Removed)
--> It's essential that stuff is tested on vanilla games so remove your mods before reporting a bug.
Initially removed (but using brand new game post removing), re-added to fix another glitch. Issue exists either way even with cache cleared.
2. Are you using custom content (as in clothing and objects) ?
Most CC comes from the store; I do have some CC objects installed, and default eye replacers for pets.
3. Do you have Into the Future or just the Patch ?
I have both.
4. Which Patch Level are you at ?
1.6.3
5. Did you start a new game or are you playing an existing ones ?
This was an existing game prior to ITF, but I believe I created it after the patch.
6. Did you transfer an existing Sim over or are they new/Pre-Made ?
See above.
7. What town are you currently playing ? EA or Custom ?
I have only EA towns; the main town is Pleasantview and I am currently in the University town.
8. What is your Operating System (Mac, XP, Vista, Win 7) ?
Windows 7
9. Do you have the download or DVD Version of the game ?
Download version of ITF; DVD of Sims 3.
10. Are you reporting for the Future-World, Uni-World, Home-World or WA-World ?
The problem occurs in both University and Pleasantview.
And the problem:
I have noticed that after installing Into the Future, I'm no longer able to use the "pet" interaction on Wild Horses or unicorns. This isn't a huge deal, but no matter how high my Sim's relationship with the animal in question, she can't pet them. Which means if she has a wish pertaining to petting a wild horse, she can't satisfy it.
As I said above, I had made a new game after removing all mods and clearing the cache. I didn't remove my CC--most of it comes from the Store. I wouldn't think that eye replacers would affect the "pet" interaction; it worked in the past together--but if that might be the problem, I am willing to remove them and try again.
I re-added some of Twallan's mods due to a glitch I was having with the consignment store that wouldn't let me buy items, even after clearing cache, resetting, etc. However, the "can't pet wild horses" issue existed prior to reinstalling the mods.
Is anyone else having the same problem? I'm probably going to try starting up a completely clean game in Appaloosa Plains to double check this.
And another issue:
With or without mods, unchecking the "horses" box in Population Control under Options does absolutely nothing. I still have horses where I don't want them--in Pleasantview, namely. Obviously I've found out that I can't pet them regardless (it's not that I don't like the horses!), but I don't want them in some places because they aren't really optimized for horse-routing. Has anyone else had this problem? The button was unchecked when I started this game (post-update) and I still got horses in Pleasantview as if I hadn't told the game I didn't want them there. Should I just rely on The Register until there's some kind of official fix? And again, is anyone else having this issue?
I didn't see either issue listed in the first few lists of posts, so I apologize if someone else has reported them. As I said, I'm going to attempt this on a completely clean game (no mods, CC, or store content) and see what happens. My fear is that the missing interaction with wild horses is something like the missing chat interaction for toddlers, and it just isn't there anymore.
