Invalid Key suddenly working???

Okay, so this is my first post. Ever. So before I start, hi everyone!

Anyways, I bought a key from G2A which is notorious for selling invalid key. But I'm covered by pay-pal so I don't mind shopping there. Bought a key from what seems to be a trusted seller with 99% Success Rate. After awhile, it gave me a key which I'm suppose to activate in the Sims 3 Website and I go and do that. I says the key is invalid no matter how many times I try. So I knew I just got ripped off my money and I go over to pay-pal and issue a refund immediately. But for some reason, in like 6 hours or so, I logged in and notice that I am eligible for the 1000 Free sim points when ever you activate the base game or world adventures ( as far as I'm aware of ) and I was a little confused. I looked around for a bit and noticed that the Sims 3 was activated.

So now I'm wondering how does an invalid key suddenly work? I'm glad it did, I'm not complaining.

@GrandomLOL  I don't know how EA is checking codes and it may not be a right away thing. I recently had issues with a vendor (I had used them before) for a code (not EA related) that wouldn't work at first. 8 hours later after talking to XBOX support (vendor kept saying code is good) it seems if you turn off automatic renewal on your Microsoft account you can't redeem a prepaid code (I still can't figure out what one has to do with the other). I won't be using that vendor again (I did get a refund from paypal). G2A is not listed as an authorized reseller - there may be future issues.
