on that list, i found my Graphics card but i couldn't find the IP expansion so i don't know if it is compatible but as I said previous to the patch IP worked brilliantly on my computer
IP is very demanding. The list ony goes up to seasons and the card is marked red for that already.
It's a user made list and not above all doubt but chances are that IP doesn't work well. Every patch adds new code and can raise the requirement a bit.
Did you try to unchart all islands though ?
I haven't tried the unchart all islands,i've updated my driver and i've turned my options down a bit but i found a page for system requirements for IP and my processor and graphics seem to be ok for it
should it make any difference that I'm using the Steam versions? purely because when I had the Sims 2, Apartment Life developed a virus and I could no longer use that disc or the new copy I bought
Try the unchartallislands cheat. Not sure what's it called exactly but I'm sure you'll find it on google.
Don't think that Steam makes a difference.
Did we try to check if your graphic card is actually recognized by the game ?

Check on the file first if it's recognized. That's not very complicated and you'll just be checking a file, not change anything.

Did you try the uncharting of the island ? You will need to google the exact cheat.

You might wanna open a thread over at thesims3.com and see if other people can help you out. We pretty much exhausted all I got and maybe a new person has fresh ideas.
