@mflib The IGOProxy64.exe error is probably not related to your laptop shutting down because software doesn't typically have that effect. It's still worth addressing though since this .exe runs Origin's in-game overlay. Please clear Origin's cache and uninstall it "the hard way":
https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
https://help.ea.com/en/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
Before reinstalling Origin, please run a couple of basic checks on your Windows system files. Your dxdiag is missing a lot of information, which suggests there may be a problem with Windows.
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
When reinstalling Origin, use the full installer (direct download link):
http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe
Run the installer as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart after installing and before trying to play.
If your laptop shuts down again, please post a new dxdiag, and also let me know whether you can hear the laptop fan and how loud it gets before the shutdown.
Hi @puzzlezaddict! Thanks for getting back to me!
So I have so far completed the DISM.exe, which I received:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Image Version: 6.3.9600.17031
[==========================100.0%==========================]
Error: 0x80240021
DISM failed. No operation was performed.
For more information, review the log file.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log
C:\WINDOWS\system32>
and sfc /scannow:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]

C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>
I'm currently checking for updates but it's taking its sweet time. Does the above mean anything to you?
Thanks again!

@mflib I occasionally see Windows get stuck looking for updates, and it I have to wait more than 10 minutes or so, I restart the computer and try again. (Or I ignore it if I'm in the middle of something else and try later.) It's not a bad sign if it happens once in a while, but let me know if you see the same issue after a restart.
More concerning is that DISM failed and sfc couldn't fix all the corrupt files it found. I could take a look at the logs, but I'm guessing that the info would suggest you do a repair install of Windows. You can do it without losing any data:
https://www.eightforums.com/threads/repair-install-windows-8.26095/
Still, back up everything essential before proceeding, just in case. If you don't have an external drive or USB stick available, you can upload some data to a free filesharing service (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) instead. Zip files and folders before uploading to save space.
Once you've run the repair install, please let me know how Sims 3 runs, and if you have any other issues, post a new dxdiag. And let me know if you get an error when trying to run the repair as well.
