Loading error check log.

So I’ve just got a new PC. Custom made by my brother in law and the key thing I said to him is that I want to play sims 3 on it. I started it up yesterday and downloaded sims with all the expansions I have through EA and the launcher was glitching and unable to load. I decided to uninstall sims and backup the electronics arts folder onto a hard drive. I have mods and so much cc that I need to save it. I was hoping by reinstalling it that it would bring back a brand new electronics arts folder but it didn’t so I brought back the old one from my hard drive. It now loads up but says there’s an error and to check the logs. Can someone help me. I’ve also checked the NET.34 (can’t remember the exact name of it but it’s something like that) and that is on. Please help me I’ve been doing this for 24 hours now

For .package files, you can use the 50/50 method to find the broken content:

    https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content#The_50.25_Method

You may well have more than one bad item, so be sure to test each half rather than clearing it because you found the problem file in the other half.

For launcher-installed cc, if you're working with old .dbc files, you can use Method by Mell on this page to test them individually, and hopefully remove what's broken:

    https://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/01/tutorial-how-to-get-rid-of-unwanted-custom-content.html

If you're installing .Sims3Packs fresh, there's no substitute for testing them individually.  Do so in a clean folder each time, and set aside the ones that work for later use once you've tested everything.

The fact that this is such an involved project is an excellent argument for only installing what you're going to use now, or soon.  You can create multiple Sims 3 user folders if you play with different themes, for example a Medieval or fantasy folder with only that cc, and a different folder for "normal" play with regular items.  Just rename the folder you're not using and change the other one's name back to "The Sims 3" so the game reads the one you want.  I have about a dozen such folders on my gaming computer, and several more on my laptop for testing purposes.

  • So tbh I reset the whole pc. So no old files were on my new PC. Sims without mod just expansion packs was fine. I’ve been slowly going through my mods and CC and going back and playing the sims to see if it works and it did for a while. I started to add my saved sims and then they didn’t. It’s gone back to that horrible black screen after launcher. I’ve taken out that folder and still doesn’t work. So I’m guessing it’s either a bad file in my saved sims or the storage but that shouldn’t be a problem. This is exactly what used to happen on my old pc which had less storage. Is there a way to sort this out or clean my cc? I’ve gone through it all in little groups

Giving it all a try! Honestly I’ve never had this much pain with one drive. It’s getting me all confused where I’m putting files!  I’m going to reset the PC so I can start fresh without OneDrive. Currently backing up my mods and cc so I can add them later.

Good to know...I was looking for a tutorial that worked for me, and this one looked similar. I did some of those steps but not all.... and you are right, the ONEDRIVE is a huge pain! I had to turn mine off.

  • Elllzzzbelllzzz  I've merged your new post with your previous thread to keep everything in one place.  For your new screenshots, the second one is normal, and the third is this known issue:

[Current Issue] Sims 3 "serious error" when loading save | EA Forums - 8322938

The short version is, completely get rid of OneDrive, including moving Documents back to the default location; or create a new, local, admin Windows account and play there.

Once you've sorted out the "serious error" issue, please let me know how the game runs with a clean user folder in place, no mods or custom content at all.

KarilynMonroe2  That link has some verifiably inaccurate information, specifically about the RAM use.  It's bad info that's easily refuted, yet it's been around forever and somehow just won't die.  I didn't look over the entire post, but anyone who's talking about making the game large-address aware can't be trusted to get anything else right.

  • This is the third day in a row of me trying to sort this out and I’m getting very frustrated with it.

I previously wrote a post but somehow I am soon able to fix it but I am always still facing issues.

I have uninstalled sims 3 times now because I can’t seem to actually run it with anything.
First I have problems with my launcher running but can’t access it. Then I uninstall it and slowly add the CC + mods on to see if any of them are corrupting it. If I add too many then it doesn’t open the launcher. If I add on some things I can open the launcher but crashes when I press play. Also idk if it’s part of the graphics but when I can get onto sims or in it’s glitching about to crash out stage, everything seems enlarged like my mouse and task bar. If anyone can help that would be great. It is a custom built pc by my brother in law and I requested it to be able to run sims 3 but I’m getting fed up of not being able to play it. I have only been able to load it up once after the black screen of death but that has happened 1 in how many other times I’ve tried. The pink loading screen is a mod but has never been that big on my old PC. Atleast half the size. It also takes 2 and long to load and never loaded the world.

I took out the cc and tried to play it as it is and there was an error with all of the worlds including sunset valley. What is going wrong. I am trying to add photos but they don’t load on

Thank you for answering. I have sorted this problem now but I’ve been having many issue with setting up my sims onto this new pc. I have seen you’ve helped a lot of people on here. Would you be able to help me with a new issue? I’ve now made all my downloads Sims3pack files into packages so launcher is easier to open which it does. But once I have pressed play I get this black screen of death which is what I used to get on my old pc. The only way I can get out of this is by restarting or if I wait long enough, it will get out of it but not responding on the task manager

  • Elllzzzbelllzzz  Please post screenshots of any error messages you get.

Please also remove or rename the Electronic Arts folder again.  It's best to start with no extra content and proceed from there.

If you open the launcher, a new folder WILL be created, but you might not be looking in the correct location.  Check both Users > username > Documents and Users > username > OneDrive > Documents.
