[Mac] - BIG PROBLEM!! Sims 3 won't start from Origin!

Sooo.. I bought a sims 3 starter pack at Origin on my BRAND new macbook computer and it won't open ☹️ I am soo pissed because I was so excited to play the game!! So when I press the play button in Origin the Launcher comes up and everything is okay until I press the play button in the Launcher then this message comes up '' Cannot start the process while the game is still running. Please quit the game and try again''.. It comes up again, and again and I'm so angry because I spent a lot of my money to buy this!

Can you guys please help me??? Do any of you have a idea what could be wrong? ☹️

The game is installed on your computer. You can launch it from your Applications folder. But because you have a brand new Mac the game is not compatible so you need to edit the files to get the game to recognise your graphics file.

No, I'm not kidding, I'm trying to help you.

It can be complicated but that fix does work. What Mac do you have? Can you go to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3, open DeviceConfig.log (either by double clicking so it opens with Console or by opening with TextEdit) and scroll down a little bit. You will see Graphics Device info:

Can you either take a screenshot of the info, like the one above, and upload and provide the link here ( www.tinypic.com is good for this) or copy and paste the graphics details here. Don't worry, there isn't any personal info in there.

You may have to use Activity Monitor to quit the game process after you try and load the game each time, basically whenever you get the "Cannot start the process when the game is running..." error message. Open Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor select The Sims 3 in the list of processes under the CPU tab then click on the X in the top left corner (the X under the red, yellow and green buttons) and Quit/Force Quit the process.

No Sims 3 folder or just no DeviceConfig.log?

Did you check Activity Monitor like I suggested? You may have to do that after every time you try to start the game.

Which exact Mac do you have? Are you happy that you followed the instructions completely and edited the GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr files correctly?
