I moved the folder to my desktop and started thr game again, it looked like it was about to load but then it crashed and the report came up to send to apple. I tried it again and its back to normal, crashing before it loads. I sudo purged each time, the free GB rises but doesnt seem to work...
Oh dear. That's a shame - it seemed quite hopeful for a moment. I'm not sure what is going on. If it used to work and now has stopped, that would suggest that something has changed since it last worked, but who knows what. If you haven't updated/patched/installed something new, then I'm not sure what it could be.
It remains possible that you are simply running out of free memory, but if manually purging the RAM does not fix this then I don't know what else to try.
It is possible that there is something wrong in your game setup, such as a bad file or corruption, but by dragging out the folder to the desktop to reset it, we have already tried that trick and found nothing.
Do you frequently restart your Mac? I know a lot of people who just put it to "sleep" and never really close it down propertly. I usually restart it before playing Sims, as it seems to enjoy a nice tidy computer environment to run the game. That and of course purge the RAM.
If that doesn't work then I am sorry to say that I am out of ideas other than (A) to completely uninstall and then reinstall, to see if this helps, or 🍺 to try posting at the sims3.com in the Mac sub-section of the forums to see if someone more expert than me can help you. If you do decide to post there, make it clear that you have already tried the tips in the Mac help thread linked below, otherwise you are likely to just be directed there straight away.

If you decide to try a new install, here are the directions.
When you uninstall TS3 games on your Mac using the uninstaller, the game leaves behind stray files and isn't completely removed from your computer. These files may conflict with future installations. It is best to completely remove them. BluebellFlora's website provides a guide on how to do this:
http://bluebellflora.com/the-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/
After cleanly uninstalling, install the base game and patch it up to date. If you cannot update via the Launcher, download and apply the latest cumulative manual patch (called the superpatch) for Mac.
Check that your game works properly. Then install any EPs and SPs that you own, in order of release date.
