Forum Discussion
Hi
There are two things you can try.
1.Go into Applications on your Mac's hard drive and look in the folder called “The Sims 3”. This is the location from which your game actually launches (as opposed to a similarly named folder within Documents, which is where your saves and other data are stored). In the folder in Applications you will see the shortcut icons for the base game as well as any expansions or stuff packs installed. If you can see the icon for the game that has failed to properly download from Origin, try right clicking on it and this should give you the option to show the original file. You can move the original files to the trash from there. This may allow you to commence a re-download from Origin. (Many thanks go to Tremayne from TS3 Mac forum for this suggestion.)
2. Look in Preferences in the Origin client and find the game installers. Delete the files relating to TS3. Log out of the client, then back in, then you may be able to start redownloading.
If this does not work, or if the icon is missing from the “The Sims 3” folder in Applications, then you may need to completely uninstall and reinstall.

I have officially uninstalled and deleted everything sims related from my computer (expcept Late Night because there are no files with it - therefore I can not delete and redownload it) , along with deleting and reinstalling the Origin client. Redownloaded Sims 3 only, and tried reinstalling Late Night. Still didn't work.
Super upset.

Hello again
The first important thing is to get rid of all the old files from the game. The actual game is installed on your Mac's hard drive in a folder called "The Sims 3" within Applications. The uninstaller is also in that file. Use the uninstaller as far as you can, then delete the rest of that folder. The game also creates another called "The Sims 3" inside a folder called "Electronic Arts" in Documents on your hard drive. That's where all the save games, downloads etc end up. Make sure that this folder also goes. Delete the copy of Origin.
Finally, use BluebellFlora's guide to manually search for and delete stray transgaming files:
http://bluebellflora.com/the-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/Note that sometimes the files are hidden and that the method you use may depend on your operating system. Bluebell's guide is comprehensive, though, so if you follow that you should be fine.
OK, so after all that you should be able to have a fresh start. Download a new copy of Origin and install the base game using the little "i" button rather than the main install button. Patch the base game to 1.67. Test it. If it works OK then back up the files so that you can get back to this point if the expansions go wrong. Now install the expansions in order of release, testing after each one.
Hopefully you will have success this time.
Good luck!

Gave up on Late Night. Dont even care anymore because I'm so mad. I paid for a game and now it wont work.
After deleting everything and trying to reinstall... UNIVERSITIES WONT EVEN WORK. I installed it. The install completed. But when I click on The Sims 3 to play, it say "Unknown Error Occurred". OKAY. So I go to try to uninstall and reinstall it, but it doesnt even show up in the uninstaller to be uninstalled. But it says on the Origin client "Play" not "Install". So idk. Help.

And after all that I deleted and reinstalled Origin so that's not the problem.
