Moving (big) lot with built house to a smaller lot

Hi, I'm new-ish to the sims 3 games, I've had it for about a month now and I was just wondering if there's any way round of moving a built house on a big lot to a smaller lot e.g using a cheat/mods? It's just that I thought bigger was better when I first started playing so I built my house on a big lot then realised I did not need as much space as I was given to use, I currently have 60x30 worth of unused space which I don't plan on using as I am more than happy with what I have built on the other half of the lot. I understand that I can just re-make the house completely on a new lot but I put a lot of time and effort into my current house and have grown attached to it so I do not want to bulldoze it. Is there any tried, tested and successful solution?
