Then I'm confused how putting the disc resolved the issue in the first place. I think that was just a coincidence 🙂

The problem is mostly solved by restarting the game so maybe it was just that.

See if that would work for you each time you have the issue. It's actually a common bug.

Make sure you shut down the game completely and restart. Not just going through the main menu.

I have the sims downloaded into origin, which is how I am able to play without the disc. My expansion packs are all digital, and I don't use any mods. Also update: i recently played the sims for a long time in the same game, with my disc in the game tray, and the same problem occured
