My disk is being read as an invalid copy

I have it installed and working fine on another computer, but when I finally fixed mine and wanted to install it, it keeps popping up a message saying my copy could not be verified.
My computer runs on Windows 8, and it took me forever to actually install it... I'm all out of ideas, help?

Oh, and I'm not sure if it might be related, but the launcher won't let me log in my account.:robotsad:

  • First the game accesses the data differently then a normal operating system read to verify ownership. This prevents the data from being copied and prevents a disk image from being used. This is called copy guard. Daemon tools redirects the reads from the drive and this will cause an error and ownership will not succeed. This will happen whether disc emulator programs are running or not. I believe (not sure) that the method used for copy guard is called SafeDisk. You can probably use the image to install the game but it will not run from the image.

Uninstalling Daemon Tools should remove the redirection (I think it's a device driver - not sure). TS3 = The Sims 3. If you registered the game you can get the digital download version from Origin (the EA download manager) - kind of like Steam.

    Ok, let's see...

I have a disk version, and it does show up on origin

    The version is 1.67.2.024002

i tried it after the last update, still the same

    "Disc Authorization Failure

We are unable to verify that your disc is a valid copy of The Sims 3. Please contact customer service."

The codes are correct though, since i have played without incident on a different computer, and the installation is complete too. It only gets stuck after the intro, where the neighboorhood menu would open, the notice comes out and you can only close the game... :womanfrustrated: thanks for taking the time to look into it ^^

Do you have any disc emulation software installed (like daemon tools)? The game reads certain data off the disc to prove ownership and some optical drive manufacturers have trouble reading TS3 discs. You could try installing the digital download version (free). You have to uninstall the disc version and install the digital version.

I don't understand... how is having DT installed affecting my disk validation process? I didn't run my disk on DT... i don't even know how to use the program...  how is DT related? :womanembarrassed: And if it is about the reader, how do i know if it can read it properly? what is a TS3 disk? Sorry for all the questions, trying to solve this is quite the ordeal for me, i'm clueless when it comes to computers. If i uninstall DT will it run normally?
Or if the digital version would solve it, where can i download it? though i really would prefer my disk to work properly u.u mainly because i don't really know much about informatics :womanfrustrated: this is so complicated T-T
