Ok. i patched the game using the super patch, but it still gives me "sims3Launcher has stopped working" when i try to play
When did you by the base game ? Before or after september 2012 ?
I would try bypassing the launcher again. You need to click on ts3w.exe and not on ts3.exe.

Origin is telling me I bought it august 30 2012. I tried using ts3w.exe but it tells me that d3dx9_31.dll is not designed for windows or it contains an error. I tried using the direct-x web installer to fix it before but it doesent fix it.

Could you post the exact error message you're getting ?
Did you download any dll or put anything in your Windows directory ? Do you have that dll in your windows system directory ?
If so, try this
- Open the console by typing cmd in the search bar in your start menu
- Type cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (path can vary, check where the dll is at)
- Type REGSVR32 d3dx9_31.dll
I think something is wrong with the registration of that dll which has more to do with Windows than the game itself.
Did you ever have the file in your Sims directory too to install custom content (It was needed before EA changed things) but if you then delete the file from the WIndows directory instead of just the SIms one, it can mess up your system.

Here is the exact message:
"TS3W.exe - Bad Image
C:\windows\system32\d3dx9_31.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."
What i did was delete the d3dx9_31.dll and then use the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer to reinstall it as suggested on another site to fix this issue, and it worked with other games before when i got this issue. Yes it is in the System32 folder in my windows directory.
when i type Type REGSVR32 d3dx9_31.dll it gives me an error message of:
"The module "d3dx9_31.dll" was loaded but entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
Make sure that "d3dx9_31.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again."
I think i installed the supernatural content before so im assuming it was there since you say it was required, but i didnt delete the file myself, my cpu fan broke and i had to get it repaired and in the process they reset my laptop it to factory settings and i lost it that way.
