New Laptop--No Optical Drive--How Can I Download Sims 3 Whenever I've Bought the Disc?

Hello.  For Christmas, I received a new laptop.  It's great and I'm in love with the little thing, but the downside is that it is without an optical drive.  My old laptop had an optical drive so this wasn't a problem.  Now, though, I have a very tempting, lovely Sims 3 disc that I've been dying to install on my new toy, but the lack of the optical drive is holding me back!  

So pretty much... Is there a way I can download the Sims 3 on my laptop without having to repurchase it?  I know I could always get an external optical drive, but those puppies aren't cheap; I'm hoping to avoid buying one.

Thanks for the help!  I'm going through withdrawal from my precious Sims 3!!

    Go on this website thesims3.com and log into your origin account and somewhere there is a button it says 'register game' you type in the code for whatever cd it can be expansion or regular sims 3 base game and it will be on your account

    I have attempted this already and it still asks for me to insert the correct disc and won't allow me to continue set up without it. I'm at a loss. I want to play this game that I paid money for.

    I have no access to the account with The Sims 3 on it, is there any way of me getting The Sims 3 on my new system because I made a new EA account?
