Opportunities not being fulfilled/completed - High End Loft Stuff

Hi, 

I'm currently playing Sims 3: High-End Loft EP. I'm in the Sunset Valley neighbourhood. 

I'm having a lot of trouble completing any opportunities. For example, one of my sims is in the journalist career. One of her opportunities is to read a book. I've had her read the book twice, but yet the opportunity does not get fulfilled and is still there to be completed. It's very annoying!

 

Another one is I need my sim to bake cookies and take them to a school. I've got him to do it so many times, quadruple checked I've done it properly by following walkthroughs and yet each time I deliver the cookies, I come out of the school and nothing happens. The opportunity is still there to be completed!

I've read a lot of advice that the problem is due to multi-rabbitholes but they do not apply in this situation as I'm only in Sunset Valley and the school is a single-use block (I'm not sure if that's the right term!)

I've looked at heaps of forums and I can't seem to find any solid advice on how to fix the problem. There is some evidence of the issue but no concrete solution.
 
My game is also fully updated.

    First thing to try is to let the game recreate new user files. That solves a lot (I refer to that as factory reset) and if all fails, reinstall the game but errors like yours would surprise me if they need a reinstall.

    Could you please accept a solution so people see that this is solved.

    Are you using any mods in your game ?

    Do others work fine or were those the only ones you got so far ?

    I'm not using any mods.

    Yes, I have had trouble with other opportunities too. For example, a journalism opportunity to throw a party for another sim who just got promoted. I've done a few parties with good success but the opportunity was not fulfilled. Same as well on an athletic opportunity - my sim needed to "become stressed/push himself" to a certain point and I've done that but still the opportunity was not completed. I have been almost completely certain that I've done the opportunities correctly.

    From memory I think the problems started happening when I installed the High end loft EP. But I can't quite remember because it was about 4 months previously that I had even played just the first Sims 3.

     

    I've just started a new game with a different family so I'm hoping maybe it was just a bug with the first family. But we'll see what happens!

    Yeah, let us know if it's savegame related or general. It might just be a corruption, especially if it's everything.

    In the new game all opportunities are working - hooray! 🙂 so I presume it is savegame related.

    Just out of curiosity (and if you have time to answer!), what do you have to do if it is a corruption on the whole game?
