Origin Downloader Rollback Installation

Recently, I acquired The Sims 3 from Humble Bundle. I followed all the instructions and I've successfully managed to get to the installation step. As I initiate the download and wait for the download to complete, my download gets rolled back. First time that this rollback occurred was when my The Sims 3 said it successfully installed and a message appeared on the bottom right of my screen. As I open origin to start the game, the download bar jumps down to 30% complete. Then the download continues as though it was always at 30% complete, draining my bandwidth away. After I let the download start again at 30%, I paused the download at 72% and the download instantly jumped to 15% complete. This is really frustrating me as it seems I can't get ANY origin game to download properly, seeing as though I've technically downloaded The Sims 3 twice based on how many times it rolled back.

I would like a fix to this issue because I'm really excited to play The Sims 3 but at the same time, this constant re-downloading is potentially going to give my ISP a ton of money from surpassing the bandwidth.

Thanks

  • try this

Launch Origin and log in with your account

    - Click Origin in the top left (main menu)

    - Select Application Settings

    - From General tab, scroll down to "Update to the beta version if available" and tick the checkbox

    - Restart Origin

  • rumbutter's solution worked for me right now. Finally got past the 55% mark, paused the download, shut down Origin, restarted it and the download, back to 55%.

  • Thank you for the fix! The download worked perfectly! I'm sure many other people have this problem too so it should be made well known somewhere easily visible.

Hi I did the update Origin beta. Restarted it. When I got in it said I had 37 percent done of downloading Sims 3. That is as far as I got then it went down to 17. Should I expect it to not role back anymore and just steadily go up.

Though thanks for the help and suggestion. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

happy to hear it worked for you 🙂

@artmonkey it should go  up with the downloading as longs as you have a steady internet connection what you could try is (as origin is a hog with internet connection and wants it all ) put off your downloading untill your going to bed

and or also close the origin client and go directly to you origin folder  C:\Program Files\Origin Games. Run the origin.exe in this folder with a rightclick -> run as administrator even though we own things sometimes the programmes need the run as admin to give it the permissions it needs

  • hello, im experiencing the same problem with BF4, my download keeps rolling back to 43%.
Its been a week since i got it and i have tried evrything and chated with advisors 3 times.
I uninstalled evrything origin related, even from the registry, and downloaded it again.
    I tried closing my antivirus
I have the beta option marked (but didnt noticed any update)
    I tried evrything.

Not to say that it is downloading at 200kb/s when normally i download at 6 mb /s

Is there any way to get the files from the game from somewhere else? i mean the actual files that origin would download to my pc

    Please help me
