Origin Expansions & Disk Expansions Compatibility

Question

Hi there,So I've recently rediscovered the Sims 3 and would really love to buy another expansion pack. I have in the past bought the base game and a number of expansions on disc, which never asked me to register them on Origin. However, I'd now like to download anything new I buy, and I've been told that this is only really possible through Origin rather than through something like Steam.&nbsp;My question is whether any expansions I buy through Origin will be compatible with the games and saves that I already have. Or will I have to uninstall everything, re-register it through Origin, and start again without my previous saves?

origin and disks work together , Steam versions only work with steam so if i buy the base game on steam i must buy expansion/stuff packs on Steam
