Package files not opening in the game

I have been trying to download custom content into my Sims 3 games on my Macbook; it will download the downloads into my game, but when I try to install the packages, they don't even show up in my game. I have tried uninstalling the mods folders and troubleshooting it with the info on Mod the Sims. Still no change. Is there any solution for this issue? It seems like there is no solution, should the package files even show up in the launcher downloads or content to download.

  • @ashleighnikole02  Are you working with files ending in .Sims3Pack or .package?  Any .Sims3Pack files go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads, at which point they show up in the launcher's Downloads tab, and you need to install them from there.  Any .package files go into ...The Sims 3 > Mods > Packages, and they do not show in the launcher; they should simply load in-game without further intervention.

You do however need to delete the five cache files in this same Sims 3 folder after adding any content to your game.  For reference, these are:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

If none of this helps, please post a screenshot of the contents of the folder that contains the data that doesn't load, as in, I'd like to see the file names themselves.  Put the folder in list form first.
