patch 1.55

Half way through loading latest patch 1.55 my computer crashes, the screen says I've gone to a non paged area and I have to reboot the computer. Any idea what could be causing this? Also I get a message when lauching the game 'to play online I need to updated to version 1.55' so since the new patch came out I can only play offline.
