Please help. A serious error has occurred while loading Sunset Valley. New Game.

I recently got Sims 3 on my laptop and now whenever I try to play (aka start a new game, as I have no current games on it) it just goes black and gives me the message "A serious error has occurred while loading 'Sunset Valley. sims3'. It is strongly recommended that you restart the application." I've tried to find ways to fix this, restarting not only the game but also my laptop, did the whole 'uncheck read only' setting, which did not stay as that, I went to check if it stayed and it had gone back to Read Only. I can't have a corrupted game file because I HAVE no files...(sorry for that being in caps, was just trying to emphasize that) I have absolutely no cc. I did look into the others who posted similar problems to mine, but theirs they had saved files that were corrupted and that was apparently their problem, does anyone know how I can fix mine? I love the Sims games. Sims 3 was my first one years ago but I could never really play it because my computer at the time was too slow and would crash after a short while. No, it was not transferred over to this one, (just in case you were wondering) I went through Origin for this one as this laptop does not have a game disk and that was how I had gotten my old one. Thank you so much if anyone can help me! I miss this game and wanted to play it again!

@puzzlezaddict the other option apparently doesn't exist anymore, I looked into it and the page was gone.

I honestly don't know how else you could try to fix this problem, other than editing the .sgr files as @roberta591 has mentioned.  (I didn't have to do this, and I wouldn't know where to start, either.  At this point, I myself would probably go through the whole process of uninstalling, cleaning the registry with a tool like Piriform's CCleaner (free), and reinstalling from scratch, but editing the .sgr files is certainly worth a shot.  You can probably find them here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin but that will depend on where you told Origin to install TS3.  Regardless, you're looking for a file within an application's folders, not anything in Documents.

I'm going to try the uninstalling and CCleaner. Thank you both of you for what you could do, hopefully, this helps it, if not I'll try and contact someone from Origin. Again thank you both so much for trying to help. I appreciate it.

Ok so now I have reinstalled the Sims 3, now the error message I'm getting is pretty much the same but instead, it's Sunset Valley World instead...
