Re: fire alarm goes off in the fire house then stops
@sim31984 Please start by deleting the five cache files in your Sims 3 user data folder in Documents\Electronic Arts. These files should be deleted regularly anyway; while troubleshooting, delete them every time you quit the game. For reference, they are:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
You can always place a second fire station in the world before deleting the first one. I believe if you do that, your sim will automatically start working at the second one. But if that doesn't happen, quit without saving, tell your sim to transfer to the second fire station, and then delete the first one afterwards. You can also put a new copy of the first one back if you like where it is. As long as there's always a copy of the fire station somewhere on the map, you should be fine.
Each time you replace and delete a fire station, please use "save as" to rename the save (so you have the original as a backup), quit, delete the cache files, then reload and test.
By the way, when a sim reaches level 10 of the career, they can work from home: they get their own truck and fire alarm to place in their house. So you won't have to worry about whether the fire station works anymore.
