are you using the mood lamp in the game ? ( I know that caused some problems for some sims in players games before ) if you have the lamp in that game  turn the lamp off

for the work issues  that can be a corrupt work outfit  ( the firefighter career and the ghost busters are broken even my firefighter looses some job experience because the call for some of the calls emergency cancelled out ) for a corrupt work outfit take your sim to the dresser-plan outfit if the sim has only one work outfit  plan a new work outfit  if the sim already has more than one delete the extra ones instead
