Get in contact with one of our game advisors to transfer your Steam code to Origin. After that uninstall the Sims base game and re-download it from Origin. It should be possible to install World Adventures then.
The reasons for this is that you cannot mix Steam and Origin games.

If Sims 3 wont work on Steam why are they selling it? I have the same problem registering the game i bought on sale from Steam last weekend.If it is an Origin only game why would other gaming sites sell the thing!?!? This is not the customers fault,the cd key proves our purchase of EA/Origins game and should allow full access.
I think the problem with World Adventures is that you're using a CD not downloading it from Steam, it seems that in the fecked up world of EA you can only buy addons from the same place you bought the fecking game in the first place. Oh and don't bother trying to use the Create A World tool that is ONLY available from the official website, it won't recognise the Steam version and there is not a Steam tool version of it available for downlod.
If you still have the recipt for the expansion I would take it back, as it is a compete waste of money. Indeed I am coming to feel that the entire game is an utter waste of money.
