@Sunny_Rio That hasn't been my experience with tombs: the doors that have previously opened stay open. Is this particular door set to close behind your sim? That might explain why this happened.
At any rate, the answer is to cheat. You could cheat and replace the door with a normal one, or you could cheat and teleport your sim to the other side of the door. For either one, enter testingcheatsenabled true, shift-click the ground, and select "build on this lot" or "teleport me here," respectively. Since you can already see to the other side of the door, it's simple enough.
I think I failed to complete it the first time round because my holiday came to an end. I wish sims didn't have to keep sleeping, you get hardly hungry rewards, but no hardly sleepy!
The key is already in the lock, I must have put it in there the first time round. Not sure if the door closes behind you, when I finished the tomb, the door opened from the other side just by pushing it (he leans against it for some time). I had been into the big room at the top of my screenshot the first time so the door had been opened (I assume with the key next to it), but I hadn't completed the room. The end of holiday just whisked me out. The game really seems to hate you not finishing quests in one go. In fact I was told off on one occasion for "destroying" a key I had to go get form another country. I most certainly did not destroy it!
I got in by zen teleportation, since I have level 10 martial arts (one of the things asked to do earlier in the quest).
