After having the 'cannot play sims 3 offline' issue i contacted EA
They suggested I Go Offline in Origin
This didn't work
They then suggested I uninstall Origin
This didn't work
They then said that Origin is now tied to the Sims 3 and logging in to the client is a requirement to play the Sims 3 games
They also said to then contact the Sims 3 community for answers
I'm wondering if we can start something that will get the developers of Sims 3 aware that many of their fans don't want to/ cannot be online when playing Sims games for their own reasons - Also, I'd hate for this to happen when the Sims 4 launches so we better hurry up
Are your games download or disc versions?
All my games are disc and if I try playing while offline in Origin, it works perfectly.
And personally, I really don't think a rally would be necessary.

My point to start something is to get the attention of the developers to reverse this as (after scrolling through the forums) I found that many others have this issue also.- see i have the disc and everything it still wont let me play without origin,it annoying

It keeps telling me that I need to activate my games to play, but I have already done this, I have played the game plenty before with no problem, this just popped up out of the blue. I have been to many forums and tried suggestions, but nothing seems to be working. Its very frusterateing to have paid so much for these games and suddenly not be able to play them.

With the new Origin your better off with download version instead. Origin is having issues with Disc. You would manually have to uninstall your disc verisons and relpace them with download versions. Are you on Mac or PC?
- All of mine were disc and I'm having the same issue... Looks like everything is fine but then I get and error message saying " unfortunately some 3 has stopped working" before it has even started... Help please. Do I need Windows to run it because I had it on a previous dinosaur of a Dell laptop with no internet and no windows and Sims were perfect.
They should not require orgin to play I paid for the game I do not think I should have to log on to orgin just to play

i actually have the same problem, with SimCity and now the Sims 3.
i called 4 times the client services, chatted online with them, 3times, get over 2 weekends to try to play.
they send me 3 emails with different ways to uninstalled and reinstalled origin and my games! And it still doesn't work. I have the physical disks.
the first time I called, the guy told me to go see the store where I bought the cd?? Are you kidding Me?
and each times i have the same reply from the persons I chatted with: "hopefully it will work" well I doesn't!
and like you I'm getting, not tired but seriously pissed off. This stealing people. You bought their games and you can't even play with them, and they don't care!
i don't know who had that marvellous idea to connect everything with origin, but now it doesn't work for everybody!

- Up until they patched it, there was a way to play these games offline. However, since the November 2015 patch there's no way that I know of to play these G a me's truly offline.
I wouldn't bother contacting 'support', I went in circles for hours trying to get them to understand exactly what Offline means. They didn't. Instead they claimed logging into Origin, going online then hitting the option to go offline would be good enough.
Honestly, it's despicable that they'd operate this way but as you may be able to tell, it's their way of preventing piracy. Even if that's at a cost to their buyers.
One other thing to note is that even though we have bought the games from the company, we are not purchasing the product as we would if purchasing a physical item. Instead we're buying rights to access the game and it's content, this is all in the first few lines of the T&C's visible when installing the game.
I honestly agree with you. Im so mad i cant play sims 3 & i cant even get into my game at all because of origin! Its like why pay for the games if you cant even play em or have problems with origin & cant get into my game! Really mad!
Sick of this issue gaming is now becoming like this and you wonder why people keep getting accounts hacked this is why they should be responsible for anything that happens to your account no matter how good you password is no a days it is too easy to hack into accounts and steal people personal information thanks to professional hackers who are despite enough to make quick easy cash
