Run Sims 3 without Origin
This happens a lot and I'm getting tired of it. I strongly dislike how sim 3 makes me have to use origin to play the game and it gets on my nerves. Especially when I'm in places where I don't have wif...
I have purchased and downloaded all of my Sims 3 games through Origin.
Whenever I go to launch the Sims 3 game/s Origin pops up and asks me to sign in.
Most of the time I get to play the Sims is whilst there is no internet connection, due to this I am unable to log into Origin to even access the games that I have paid for.
For me this is a real pain and I wish that they could sort it out.
There is a bug with origin where it has taken over as admin where you must log into origin to play. Origin is acting as admin for the game even though origin properties does state my computer is admin. Have an on going case with EA and they are supposed to get back to me. Read my thread about this issue. Also check you DxDiag see if you are seeing errors that have to do with Origin and TS3W file like I am getting
http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/Origin-the-sims-3-Error-12-13/m-p/2717206#U2717206
bugvey, after reading my thread I posted above try this and let me know what happens
Computer C
program files x86 click to find origin games. Click on origin games, then click on the sims 3 file, then click on game file, then click on bin file. In the bin file find the TS3W file. Left click on the TS3W file. Let me know if teh TS3W file will take you to the game buypassing origin and the launcher or when you left clck the sign into origin box pops up
sounds like your having same problem as me. Let me know what happens with your DxDiag on the errors and what operating system are you on windows . Post this info in the thread you started so that way I will save your specific thread that I can possibly use to reprot to EA
Three years later this is still a problem.
I wasn't informed I'd HAVE to have origin and we specifically bought the disk versions to AVOID using origin. I hate that * ram hog. And that joke about them going faster for there downloads? I mean because that claim IS a joke right? Right? RIGHT?! Because someone should totally sue them if it isn't. They are slow as freaking molasses going uphill in and icy snowy winter.
The worst part is that they continually try to force Origin on you as a 'service' you simply don't have the option to use otherwise much like how Window's programs lock you out of basic program tools you used to have before they decided if you didn't want to give them peeks at all your personal files and allow them to store it outside the computer on there servers(which I might add, are hackable much more easily than if someone where to target individuals in the respect that its essentially putting all those proverbial eggs in one basket and expecting that to be somehow more secure).
You used to be able to restore a computer to the day before or a week before etc etc etc. It was basic computer knowledge how to do so if you had any sort of tech knowledge but now corporate Microsoft thinks nothing of locking you out of basic features on a computer to complicate them for there own gain. It's ridiculous.
No. Origin is not the only one but I've tried very hard to avoid it and still play the games I buy...
These people don't give two * about the fact people hate origin. They keep pushing it and making it 'necessary' to use.
They can add all the 'features' they want to try and make it out to be 'better' but it's still them forcing it down our throats so to speak and saying 'if you want this then you have to have this' and it's ridiculous. Every one of these games should be entirely playable without it. There is no rational reason to require an extra program like Origin to the players... but from a company standpoint I have no doubt they collect that data on what we play against our will no matter what we want and without a single care given.
I have to sit through the epically insanely long download now... because I didn't know it required origin. I thought I finally was getting away from Origin.
I wish Origin and this notion of spying on people would just burn and end the frack yesterday. Like not even today. If it just went back in time and died years ago I'd be happy.
I utterly despise Origin.
What I don't understand is why you need to download Origin to be able to download a game. If you have an account with Origin surely that should be enough? either way it still registers with their servers without taking up 329MB of space- space which could be used for another of their games. Also if you have the disks then there should be no need for the server, it should be installed in the disk as part of the game's programming.
It doesn't say in the licence agreement that you need to download Origin just that you need to agree and comply with certain rules and regulations. Not everyone wants their movements tracked just to play a game.
by loging into origin and purchasing software they can pinpoint what country you are from and currently playing in, they have access to your date of birth card number/ payment agreement. all too easy for any hacker to access. even if you choose to go 'offline' origin can still find a way of tracking you because you have the software.
I might just be paranoid and cynical but I don't like the weaknesses origin exposes my pc too just to play a game.
I never been able to play sims 3 without Origin, but I have no problem with playing offline, I put origin in offline mode and then I disconnect myself from the internet cause it's run smoother when I do.
I have always been able to bypass Origin and the launcher and never had to get on line to play the game. The Launcher runs high disc usage and so does origin hogging your ram. Bypassing both the game plays even better.
no one cares blaaaaaaaahhhh blahhhhhhhh
there is a way ! - if you are running the disc version.
delete origin ( ignore the message that if you do, you will not be able to re-install),delete the Sims 3 and all expansion and stuff packs from your computer.
re-install the base game and run. you will be asked (demanded) to install origin - decline and let the EA downloader install the updates ( about half, three quarter of a hour's worth ).
re install the expansion packs. ( check the final screen on each installation- UNTICK the option to download/install origin, if present- it might even say that if you don't, origin will not be able to upgrade your game - this is rubbish - EA has stopped support for the Sims 3 and will no longer be publishing patches or upgrades- pure blackmail !)
open C:/program files/ELECTRONIC ARTS/EADM and delete the 'download patches' program- this stops the computer downloading and installing the origin set-up program.
run the game as usual but with either the base game or last loaded expansion disc installed in the drive- your pre-saved games will still be there. and ignore the message that the game cannot connect to Origin- yipeeeee !.
worked on windows 8X !
