Running the Sims 3 in Ubuntu/Linux using Wine (a.k.a Wine is not an emulator)

Hello, I do hope all of you out there are having a good day, week, month, year, life...

I hope you are able to help me with this. I am trying to install the Sims 3 onto Linux/Ubuntu. Now, before you all yell and me "Sims only runs on Windows/Mac", I have Wine installed onto my PC which imports dll etc. files from Windows for use in Linux. I have followed a lot of tutorials and have had no luck. I installed from CD, the new version which requires Origin to be installed. Install went smoothly, with no errors in the process. Origin runs fine under Wine, but when I press "Play" the orange button dulls for five seconds and then becomes click-able again. I have tried running "TS3W.exe", "TS3.exe", "S3Launcher.exe", and all other executable files in the Sims 3 directory. My Sims files are stored under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3" with the main game under "C:\...\Game". There is no EA stuff under my Documents directory. I am using Ubuntu 16.04

Please don't just read this and say "Oh, you can only run this game under Windows/Mac". I have seen this done before, a quick Google search will show you it can be done, but the video tutorials are all outdated, and do not require Origin installation. Please help me with this.

Have a nice day,

                           me :D

  • You are correct that there are people that run it through Wine but the problem is, that it's not officially supported by EA and I doubt anyone here can help you further.

Did you try an Ubuntu forum ?
