Saves got deleted?

So I saved and exited my game like normal, and then the next day I loaded up my game and the new game screen came up, as if it was my first time playing. I was really confused and looked into my files, only to find that my saves folder was completely empty, along with my current game folder. The dates for those were changed to the exact date and time that I loaded my game. I am really confused because I didn't get any new cc or mods or anything, and I know my game did not refresh because everything else is intact: my downloads, screenshots, etc. are all still there. I searched my whole computer and it didn't move anywhere, it's like they just completely vanished. It is very upsetting because I have had this one save for over a year and was on the fourth generation. I have a Windows 10 acer, and I have all expansion packs except for into the future and supernatural. I have no stuff packs, and I have plenty of mods and cc, but I know that is not the problem because I haven't got any new ones in a while and it has never caused any trouble. Please help! I'm too afraid to create a new game because I fear it might completely get rid of any chances I have left of finding my lost saves. ☹️

    @roberta591 I tried everything the website said with one drive, but still no trace of my lost saves. I don't think I was ever logged into one drive, so my saves are not saved there

    @EmileeAllene the one thing I was considering is that your game is synced to a computer that doesn't have the game and therefore deletes the folder? May get into more ideas tomorrow.

    @roberta591 I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but my computer is the only one that I have played with with my games

    @EmileeAllene If your computer is setup to sync to a non existent computer that files may get deleted  to conform to the computer that has no files.

    add: Windows 10 syncing is a function of the operating system and has no connection to the game other then the files in your documents folder.

    My guess this is an operating system problem not a game issue.

    @roberta591 so if it's an operating system issue, is there any way to recover? If not, I think I have an earlier version of my sim family in my library, so I will just start a new game with them. However, if it is with my operating system, is there any way to prevent it from happening again? It would be a shame to lose my saves all the time

    @EmileeAllene Make sure OneDrive is turned off and not running AT ALL. I have taken it out of my startup programs and have made sure it is set to local files. If it is running just  don't log in. My best guess is the files are gone so if you have a backup that would probably be the way to go.

    I remember getting a screen that wanted me to log in to OneDrive. Just close it.

    Windows 10 - settings - accounts - syncing - setting - OFF

    task manager - startup - disable OneDrive
