@denai99  Please uninstall Sims 3 and reinstall it into a new admin Windows account.  For the uninstall process, use Revo Uninstaller:

• Put aside your Sims 3 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 3."
• Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
• Launch Revo, select Sims 3 from the list, and click Uninstall.
• Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
• Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
• Close Revo, and restart your computer.

When you create a new Windows account, make it a local account, as in, don't link it with your Microsoft account, and be sure to give it administrator privileges.  Here's how to make one:

Install Sims 3 into that account and see whether it launches.  If it does, you can try running it in your main account.  Let me know how it goes.

Thank you so much! When I downloaded TS3 on the other profile, it worked smoothly. I was able to boot up a game and load in EPs. However when I returned to my regular profile, I get this error in the attached image.

Origin is required to play this game. Please install Origin and relaunch the game. If Origin is already installed and the game is not running, please contact customer support.

I tried running from TS3.exe but it didn't even open after waiting for over an hour

@denai99  Honestly, you might be better off just using the new Windows account to play.  It can be difficult and time-consuming to find the cause of this particular error, and you know the game works in the other account.  If you'd still like to troubleshoot this account, I can try to help, but I might have you jumping through hoops for no benefit.

If you do want to keep trying, please let me know the default location of Documents in your older account.  Open a File Explorer window, right-click Documents and select Properties, then the Location tab, and list the full file path.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you want, but please leave the rest of the file path intact.  And let me know if you don't see a Location tab at all.  You can still see the location in the General tab, but not having a Location tab means you're not viewing the right Documents folder, as in, the one that Windows uses as the default location in this account.

@denai99   EA has been slowly redirecting pc users to the EA app from Origin. If the game was installed from Origin I think it has to update and/or patch to run under the EA app. The store items can now be downloaded through the EA app. The only problem I had is the the expansions and stuff required Origin. Origin does NOT need to be running. DO NOT OPEN Origin as this may (probably) mess the game up. If this has been fixed you don't need Origin at all. Did you try repair under the EA app? Did you try reinstalling using the EA app. EA wants you to use the EA app as pc users are being redirected to the EA app. IMHO I think it may not be long before  pc users are going to have to use the EA app. If you install the EA app, Origin gets uninstalled. If the expansions and stuff tab are ok then you really don't need Origin. The only issue there is those packs seem to get unchecked at times and I have to make sure all the packs are checked.. The  store items need to be reinstalled under the EA app as they will not stay installed if they were installed under Origin.I deleted all the downloads and installed content and re downloaded from the EA app and they now stay installed. Life is good. They turned the light on at the end of the tunnel. If you already installed the EA app uninstall and download reinstall the EA app.
