Showtime Singer Gig Won't Start?

I just bought the sims 3 and every pack yesterday because of the sale on steam. So I made a sim and put her in the singing career. I played a little and it was going well until I got my first gig. My sim walked onto the stage and then I was asked what set I wanted to use. I chose a custom set and just put one item on it. I went back to live mode and the item I put down disappeared and my sim was just... Standing there? I tried using the venue's default set and that didn't work either. My sim just did a "swiping" hand gesture and nothing at all happened. This went on until the gig eventually ended without my sim ever performing or getting payed. The gig just disappeared off of my sim's schedule when the time was up. The venue was at a park during the summer festival. If anyone wants to know the exact name of it just ask because I don't remember but I could check. I'm kind of disappointed since I bought the game all of the packs literally yesterday and I am already seeing bugs that are making the game unplayable. I'm very familiar with the sims 4 and all of it's constant game breaking bugs. That is kind of why I decided to switch to sims 3. I also saw people talking on forums about this bug from like 2012-13?! This bug has been here for that long and I still haven't seen anyone who has a workaround or fix for it. Also the devs should've fixed this a long time ago but that is way too much to expect from EA. Sorry for my rant but I'm sure you understand why I am upset. Someone please help me? I paid good money for this pack.

    @XCoco_LolipopX  Did your sim change into her career outfit?  If not, that could have been the issue, and you can force her to do so if necessary by clicking on her and selecting Change Outfit > Career.

    Another common issue is that the venue's proprietor doesn't show up.  If you're not sure who that's supposed to be, just hover over the name of each sim near the stage; the proprietor sim will have that listed after their name.

    If you use mods, particularly NRaas MasterController, it can help to reset the venue lot a couple hours before a show is supposed to start.  I realize that part of your complaint is that EA never fixed this issue, and using a mod to do so doesn't really address that.  But the game is what it is at this point.  I personally think that even if the performer careers didn't work at all, which is not the case, Showtime would more than worth the pro-rated sale price for the collection on Steam.  But if you're frustrated with it, there are many other things for your sims to do and learn that more or less work as intended.

    @puzzlezaddict Thanks! My sim was in her career outfit. I tried my custom one and the default but it still didn't work. I'm not exactly sure if the proprietor was there but next time I will make sure. And thanks for the mod suggestion. If nothing else works I will try to download that and see if it works. I was just kind of frustrated because the whole point of Showtime is to put on shows you know? If that doesn't work then what is the point of the pack? I'm sure I might be able to fix this though. Hopefully.
